NRG Doctor Honoured at Health Summit in New York

Dr Jatin Shah, head of deptartment for head and neck surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City was honoured for his extraordinary contribution and social service to the Indian diaspora abroad. He was honoured at a a health summit by the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO).

Dr. Shah has graduated from the Medical College at MS University in Vadodara. He was awarded for his excellence, surgical education and research as well as his dedication to patient care. He is also trying to make a difference in the community through social service.

He provides consultations and direct surgical care to some indigenous patients, and makes various philanthropic contributions. He has conducted numerous courses and conferences in India, and has trained physicians of Indian origin who come to his institution for paid fellowships. The three–day summit kicked–off on November 12. GOPIO is embarking on this initiative to respond to a health crisis across the Indian disapora.

"The Health Summit is a new initiative from GOPIO International and the Summit programme is developed in such a way that the general population can interact with experts in different health fields and other related areas so as to bring awareness and improve the health and wellness of the Indian Diaspora," said Dr Thomas Abraham, chairman of the programme committee.
